The implications of idiocy

Foolish was I, to jump off the cliff,
It had to hurt when I hit the ground.
The pain didn’t come as a surprise then.
Foolishness always comes with its price.
But it felt so good to fall without end,
The ground was just so far away.

Innocent was I, as I decided to jump,
Ground couldn’t mean more pain than life.
To hold a scar that all eyes can see,
Was a rare gift for the desperate soul.
It seemed a tempting fate to be scarred,
Or perhaps a chance for the nothing to end.

The illusion of choice speaks of my folly.
The abyss of life, reveals this pain.
Innocence can’t and won’t be an excuse.
Though one may try to pretend it is thus.
The ego knows precisely what it wants,
And the listless mind will always be its slave.
