On the great sandy plain,
That grew hills from a grain,
Where the sun punishes you,
There lived a cactus flower on dew.
Once I chanced upon this land,
So ruthless was Mother Nature’s hand,
All to the horizon I saw just sand,
That shrouded this vast land.
Let’s say I never talked to it,
But I had this little mental skit,
I hope you’ll see what I want to say,
I hope you’ll feel the same way.
Cactus flower of the sand,
How is it you still stand?
Is it that you are immortal?
Or do you hide some secret portal?
All alone as you are,
Ever wanted a companion so far?
Should I help you beautify the sand?
Should we do good hand in hand?
I am but a mere man,
That is all I only can,
I know I must pass someday,
To leave behind my fellows of today.
Cactus flower under the sun,
Is your solitude really fun?
From what I heard from the air,
It’s too much alone for anyone to bear.
I hope I’m not a great bother!
The way I question does smother,
How do you bear the sun’s weight?
How, How do last an eternal wait?
Cactus flower in the evening sun,
I hope you’re at rest, having fun,
I see, you enjoy this mild light,
I see the cool breeze brings delight.
Cactus flower in the midnight moon,
Epitome of beauty, forcing all to swoon,
I see your light, in all its might,
Brighter in the night.
Cactus flower dear to me,
I know you wait for the morning rain,
To set you free of all chains,
Cleanse all of your mortal stains.
A human is but a mere baboon,
We see in the dark, romance the moon,
I hope “i” can grow up to you,
To see the stars from where you do.
Cactus flower in the rain,
Don’t break off; I’ll take your strain!
..Cactus in the rain,
Promise me you’ll come again.
To teach me, what I’ve never learnt,
To tell me all to avoid fall,
To show me there is always hope,
To know that disciples grow.
To all who hear, and the rest who see,
Pass this story to whoever may be,
In loss of hope, with excess of despair,
It doesn’t make a difference, so let’s be fair.
